These Luxeon K2 LEDs are amongst the most powerful LEDs in the world.  Made by Philips Lumileds and originally intended for lighting applications, they are rated at 3.4V and 700mA. They are EXTREMELY bright with 100 lumens of light. They make excellent gun muzzle flashes when switched by the optional switched/flasher outputs of our sound modules.

When powered up continuously, these power LEDS MUST be mounted on a heatsink such as a slug of 1/4"diameter aluminum rod, a piece of 1/4" wide brass bar or on a copper pad on a PCB. They have a thermal pad on the underside which must be bonded to the heatsink through soldering or using thermally conductive epoxy. Failure to mount on a heatsink when powered continuously will destroy them due to overheating.

If the LEDs are used as gun barrel flashers, and flashed for only a few seconds at a time, they can be used without a heatsink as they will not have time to heat up sufficiently to destroy themselves.

NOTE : ALL LEDS MUST BE USED WITH A SERIES RESISTOR TO LIMIT THEIR CURRENT. THE VALUE AND POWER RATING OF THE RESISTOR DEPENDS ON HOW MANY LEDS ARE USED AND WHAT SUPPLY VOLTAGE THEY WILL BE USED WITH.

PLEASE SEE THE ARTICLE HERE FOR DETAILS.
We do not supply resistors as there are so many different requirements for each user. You can buy them from your local electronics store.

See Arctic Silver products for Thermally conductive epoxy.

Note: Unfortunately, these LEDs have been obsoleted by their manufacturer and we have no more in stock. We are searching for suitable alternatives.
