This SFX6.4 sound module is the same as the previous SFX6.3 except that its processor chip has twice the amount of program space (256KBytes) which will allow us room to add even more advanced features in the future.
Our ultra high performance SFX6 module is the FIRST and ONLY R/C sound module that can playback with 16 bit samples, 46875 samples/second AND plays two sounds at this rate simultaneously. It can also play back up to four sounds simultaneously at 23437 samples/second.
These modules offer TWO completely independent throttle controlled engine sounds which are proportional to two throttle stick positions. Both forwards only (e.g. model aircraft) and forwards/reverse (e.g. model boats and tanks) are accommodated. In addition, up to four additional sounds can be controlled using a spare proportional channel or up to 8 additional sounds using one on/off channel.
NEW!! For model tanks and naval vessels, the second proportional "engine" sound can now be used as a proportional gun turret rotation sound. This means that the speed of the turret rotation sound is proportional to the amount of stick movement from its centre position.
Remote Volume Control is possible if eitherThrottle2 or ChannelSelect2 inputs are not used.
You can download your own sounds to this module using its USB interface and the user friendly SFXPC3 Windows 7/Vista/Windows XP 32/64 bit application. A mini-B USB port is on-board.
One to four additional on-board switched outputs can be purchased for CAD$8.00 each that can be used to flash LEDs in sync. with sounds for gunnery, or Morse code applications, or to switch other auxiliary circuits. These outputs are also user configurable to switch on all the time while their respective sound clips are on. See our white and red/orange Power LEDS to go with these flasher outputs.
It includes a CD-ROM with a Windows 7/ Vista/XP SFXPC3 application and some free sound editors. Also included are two 300mm long servo leads with a male Futaba style connector on BOTH ends. These are sufficient for two R/C channels e.g. one Throttle input and the Channel Select input. Extra cables for a second Throttle input are available at CAD$4.00 each. The mini-B USB port to connect to the PC is the same as used on most digital cameras so you can use the USB cable that came with the camera. We can also supply a mini-B USB cable at CAD$12.99.
Please NOTE: The module is completely plug and play - you need only to setup the throttle control using an easy button setup procedure. You DO NOT have to connect it to a PC at all if you do not want to change the sounds or its configuration. However, if you wish, you can use the powerful, yet easy to use, SFXPC3 Windows application to configure and download your own sounds and to set the many configurable options on the SFX6 module.

Optional Switched Outputs for SFX6.4 Sound Module

These 5 Amp switched outputs can be used to switch auxiliary loads such as lamps, LEDS, low current smoke units etc. and can be triggered by any sound clip and engine StartUp, or engine ShutDown sounds. They can also be configured to flash in sync. with any sound clip. Configuration and setup is performed using our Windows SFXPC3 SW.
See below for our "Snubbers" if you intend to switch relays or other inductive loads using these outputs.
No additional external circuitry is required. They are provided by us for the charge of CAD$8.00 each when ordered at the same time as an SFX6 module. They cannot be added once the sound module has been shipped.
LED flasher and switched outputs on our SFX6.3 sound modules are designed to switch LEDs or lamps, not inductive loads. If you wish to switch any inductive load such as a relay, small motor, solenoid etc. you MUST connect a "snubber" device across the load to prevent reverse inductive kickback voltages from damaging the sound module.
These fast acting Schottky diodes are rated for a reverse voltage of 50V so are able to handle any inductive kickback likely to be generated from loads that our modules can switch.
Connect them in reverse across the load so that in normal operation they do not conduct, but when the current is shut off, they conduct the inductive kickback and so prevent it from entering the sound module.
Failure to protect a sound module by not using these diodes VOIDS the sound module warranty.
Male - Male servo cable

This male-male servo cable with Futaba style connectors on each end is made especially for us. It is 300mm long and uses high grade silicone coated 22AWG stranded wire so is very flexible. It is used to connect R/C receiver throttle and channel select outputs to our SFX6.3 sound module.
The SFX6.3 sound module includes two of these cables - one for a Throttle input and one for a Channel Select Input.
One of these cables is required for each additional R/C input you wish to use. E.G. one for each throttle input and one for each channel select input.
